Early Childhood
A montessori-style preschool program for 2–4 year olds
Why do we have Preschool?
Many Bachman Lake children come from low income, Spanish-speaking households. Statistically, by the time they enter kindergarten, they have heard 30 million fewer words than the average affluent American child.
This “Word Gap” puts children at a lifelong disadvantage academically, economically, and socially. Our Early Childhood Education program lays a strong foundation in the lives of the preschool children who attend our classes. Besides teaching the children, our staff also equips their parents to create a home environment that will give their children the best possible start in school.
Nearly 59% of children in neighborhood schools are not considered “school-ready” when they enter kindergarten.
We focus on four development areas:
Health and Motor
Social-Emotional
Cognitive
Language & Literacy
Casa del Lago utilizes a structured early childhood education program to address the critical language gaps and pre-literacy deficits while instilling a love of learning. Our curriculum also uses crafts and group play to help children improve their fine and gross motor skills needed for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Every aspect of our programs, including the games, songs, and hands-on activities, are designed to develop the students in these four areas, with specific benchmarks targeted for each age group.
